Useful things from learning language

When you're learning a language, it's not just grammar or vocabularies. It can also teach you something useful. I had a homework last week from my English production teacher Mrs. Idalis.  She told us to watch a video from TED talks or CNN. I choose TED and the topic was “10 ways to have a better conversation”. Do you think looking people’s eyes, nod or smile is a good response for a conversation? I’ll tell you more about what I learned from this video.πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

  • Don’t multitask.(Be present don’t be half in and half out)
  • Don’t pontificate.(learn something from other people)
  • Use open-ended questions.(5W 1H)
  • Go with the flow.(thoughts will come into your mind and you need let them go out of your mind)
  • If you don’t know say that you don’t know.
  • Don’t equate your experience with theirs.(It is individual, not same ,never the same)
  • Try not to repeat yourself.
  • Stay out of the weeds.(People don’t care something, that’s detail in your mind)
  • Listen πŸ‘‚ πŸ‘‚ (Most important thing)
  • Be brief.(Be interested in other people)
I think the video is useful for us, if you learned anything from this video, you’ll have better conversation with other people.πŸ‘«πŸ‘«(TED talks —10 ways to have a better conversation)
